Totally enlightened. Steadfast and stylish, Guru has long set a standard for enlightened excellence as a rugged, fully machined, and ultra-reliable reel at a great price. By increasing the arbor to a larger diameter and making the spool narrower—all the while decreasing its total weight and parts—Guru S takes it to another level. An enhanced spool machining technique—focusing material only where it’s needed—makes this version significantly lighter and higher performing than its predecessor. We’ve opened the porting to reduce weight and improve line drying, and integrated the counterbalance. We even introduced a curved cross-section for structural stability. Taking your game to fishing nirvana, this will be your Guru for life.

Available in OG, Blaze (-3+ & -5+ Only), or Arctic (-7+ & -9+ Only).

** Guru S Spools also fit Guru S HD Reels **

Just took delivery of a Guru S 7+ following a recommendation by a ghillie friend of mine on the River Thurso. Not used yet, but a lovely looking reel. Will be pairing it with a bespoke 6/7# Switch rod said ghillie is currently making for me on a Fireneedle blank.

that will be a perfect pairing!

Guru S 5 wt. Great Reels! Just bought my second Guru S in 7 wt.

I retired last year and got back into flyfishing finally! I bought my first Guru S this year in the 5 wt. This was also my first Lamson reel I’ve owned. I’ve fished for panfish, smallmouth and largemouth bass with it. Biggest fish was a seven pound carp on a six pound tippet and the drag worked flawlessly. Just bought another Guru S in 7wt to use for largemouth while throwing large streamers and bugs and also for carp. Lamson will be my go to brand, great quality and designs.

Glad you got back into it! Those Carp will test a drag for sure, and that Guru S is up to the task. Have a blast out there.

Smooth like butta!

Love my Guru. Paired with my G. Loomis IMX pro creek 4wt is a match made in heaven! Rarely use any of my other rods or reels now…Great looks, smooth retrieve and perfect drag! Spend most days fishing Idaho and northern Wa. for rainbow and native cutthroat and the Gure S handles it flawlessly!

Sounds like a perfect match. Nice cutty!

Will hold up to any trout in New York great all around reel from the drag to line retrieval. Looking to put lamsons on all my rods from now on.

Thanks John! Wherever you find trout the Guru S is ready to work.

Excellent reel

Ive had the reel on my Hardy 9ft 9in 2wt for 2 yrs now and absolutely love the smooth performance, weight and balance it provides. Easy to clear of debris and strong enough for large Browns and Bows it is a workhorse that looks like a showhorse. 2 thing i like most is my ultra skinny lines don't fall between the spool and reel and any gravel or sand that gets on the line stays out of the gears and clears quickly with a dunk and a swish underwater.

Workhorse and Showhorse! Best of both worlds. Thanks for letting us know!

Fish saver. Our breakout product in the fly fishing industry, years ago, we thought: “There’s got to be a better way to remove a delicately-tied fly from a hooked fish than the hoisting, clamping, and wrenching process now on display.” So we created a simply innovative tool capable of reducing fish mortality by eliminating netting and handling—then named it after our home-base of Ketchum, Idaho. This technique will preserve protective coatings and eliminate air exposure. The Ketchum Release® tool makes low-mortality release easy, plus allows you to retrieve your fly without damage. It even keeps your hands high and dry. The Ketchum Release® is available in three sizes:  Big Bug for hook sizes 6-10; Standard for sizes 12-16; and Midge for sizes 18-22.
