I just dove down the switch rod rabbit hole and needed a reel (on a budget) with enough capacity to hold the garden hose sized shooting line. The 9+ Liquid is exactly what I was looking for and I was lucky enough to pick up a reel and an extra spool while they were on clearance.

I will add that a couple of my buddies have been fishing the 5+ Liquids for a couple years and they love them. I'll be looking at the new version for my 8 weight rods as soon as I recover financially from the new switch gear.

I've recently bought the 7+ pack and it's my first Lamson reel. TBH I got the old model at a fantastic price and after reading reviews about the excellent drag I decided to invest as it was such a bargain.

I can tell you the drag is wonderful, it's simply sublime, so smooth with virtually zero start up inertia and it's way better than my Orvis Hydros 3's. The reel is really impressive as with a quick push the spool pops off and the new snaps back on, couldn't be simpler. No fiddling with cold wet hands trying to release the catch on the spool. Brilliant design Lamson, very well done!

Finally I've read that the finish may not be too durable, if it's correct I am not bothered as such a light reel with superb drag and easy spool change at the price I paid the finish is a minor issue and it won't affect the reel except in appearance. Hey a few battle scars just make it look like it's being well used.

I have just today ordered another 3 pack at the bargain outgoing model price a 3+ this time as they will better balance my lighter river rods.

Even at full retail for the new model these 3 packs are worth every penny so if you want the best fly reel bargain out there just order one with confidence right away Lamson have smashed this one out of the park!

I have used Lamson reels on my guide rods for trout for over two decades. I recently switched over to the Liquid reels and couldn't be happier! They are surprisingly light, durable, stylish, and because they are from Lamson, they have a simple yet bomb-proof drag system. I am looking forward to years worth of service from these new additions to the quiver.

The drag on this reel is excellent. It's a quality product that I'd put against reels twice the price.

One would be hard pressed to find a better reel at this price point
