I caught the Permit sickness 17 years ago, and the sickness became an obsession. I live in Key West where I can indulge this obsession. Today, I do not believe there is a reel that can match the Litespeed M! Lightweight, waterproof to 100 feet drag, adjustable click drag that will subdue a hot three-digit tarpon, huge arbor, not too wide frame, and lest I forget--sexy looking! No- I don't get free reels, and yes, I do have drawers filled with other fine reels I no longer fish. eBay, here I come!
Bottom line: the engineer/fanatics at Waterworks have designed (for this obsessive angler who doggedly pursues Bones, Perms and Poons) the state-of-the-art flats reel--regardless of price. Lord only knows what these guys will come up with next?
And if you're wondering, I spool my Litespeed M's with the new Rio Direct Core Elite lines and I attach them to Sage Igniter rods (all of which I also pay for).
Excellent!! They nailed it with this reel.. it was between this and a Nautilus NVG.. had both in hand. The Litespeed M was a clear winner. Took it on a bonefish trip already.. smooth drag, great retrieval rate due to the largest arbor in the game, plenty of backing, fully sealed.. what else do you need? Oh.. good looks.. it’s got those too.
