I've had the guru on my Douglas 5wt rod for a few months now and have fished on a variety of different river, streams, and lakes. I am fully impressed at how smooth the drag is when lowering or upping it, not to mention that it feels like nothing in my hand when casting and walking from pool to pool, plus it looks sweet.

I've had my Guru reel for several years and it's still one of my favorites. It's got a few marks on it now but it still works as smooth as silk!

Trout, smallies, and I have beaten on my Guru 5 and 7 . . . and they continue to operate with unrivaled smoothness and reliability. I'm planning to replace a Ross 3w that has a sticky drag with my third Guru this winter. Do not spend less - and there's no need to spend more.

This reel, this series of reels are my absolute go to whether in Montana or Alaska. Most recently, this reel managed a 4 inch bow admirably (huge self-deprecation) but managed many, many fish over 20 inches and some pure Alaska wild ‘Bows and Dollies pushing 26+. Never need to adjust anything but my hat. Professional Guides and friends all rely and trust the Guru S series. Thanks and please keep doing what ya’ll do so very well. PS If you ever do a purple variant please let me know….I may never be forgiven for missing it. 😎

The best drag system I have ever used. I've had multiple reels I have paided twice as much for but I think this is the best. I liked it so much I bought another Lamson (liquid).
